Thanks to Cindy Moore for the invitation to join “all Oprylanders from the good ol days” for an evening open house at Cindy and Randy Moore’s “Little Graceland,” January 6th.

”Why?

“Why not?,” Cindy asks and answers on invitations to those who will gather two days before what would have been Elvis Presley’s 72nd birthday from sundown “until Elvis has left the building.”

Guests, who will munch on “King-approved snacks,” chased with “Blue Hawaii Water, Cokes, Coffee or ‘Spin-Out Wine,’” are advised to “Bring Your Sideburns.”

As fans await the April, 2007 publication of Harold and Don Reid’s The Statler Brothers: Random Memories, Music Row wags are wondering if the subtitle is the brothers’ way of giving themselves a pass.

If a definitive book about the Statlers is to be written, the Reid brothers would have no trouble beating Phil Balsley to the punch, but a definitive narrative must not be random and it must truthful. The thinking is that the Reids will miss their golden opportunity to expand on what Edward Morris originally reported in Billboard about the true circumstances of Lew DeWitt’s departure from the quartet.

Is Jean Shepard on the outs with Springer Mountain Farms?

Were it the case, it wouldn’t be like the outspoken Jean, TV spokesperson for the antibiotics-free poultry company, to be “chicken” about saying so. Yet, the company's Web site and print advertisements don’t mention Shepard’s name at all.

Not surprisingly, Jamie Charles “Jay” Bakker, James Orson “Jim” Bakker and Tammy Faye Bakker Messner’s only son, says “I love Social Distortion.”  But the body-pierced, tattooed 31-year-old (turning 32 January 4th) star of the Sundance Channel’s One Punk Under God tells the StarTribune’s PAMELA MILLER that he also listens to “JERRY LEE LEWIS, WAYLON JENNINGS, JOHNNY CASH- lots of Johnny Cash. (BRUCE) SPRINGSTEEN, (BOB) DYLAN [and] KRIS KRISTOFFERSON’s Why Me, Lord?”(SIC)
