At the Opry this weekend...

Coming to the Grand Ole Opry this weekend is a wide variety of acts that range all the way from the legends to today's hottest stars. The Friday night portion will include Grammy Award-Winning artists, Riders In The Sky. Bluegrass will fill the air as Jesse McReynolds and The Virginia Boys take the stage.

Doug Stone will be performing some of his biggest hits and maybe some new ones. Who knows, the fans might get to hear Doug do "In A Different Light" or "I'd Be Better Off (In A Pine box)." Other artists that can be see on Friday night is Connie Smith, Jan Howard, Ashley Monroe, Billy Dean and the talented, Gene Watson. No one can sing "Farewell Party" like this man. Gene Watson will have the whole Opry House on their feet when he ends this tune.

On the first portion of Saturday night, Country Music traditionalist, Josh Turner, will grace the stage. In his half-hour segment, he will introduce Steve Wariner, Tift Merritt and Mel Tillis. Mel always gets the crowd going with his classic hits, such as "Send Me Down To Tuscan, "I Got The Hoss," and "Coca Cola Cowboy." For the first time, in a very long time, the amazing Stonewall Jackson will once again perform on the Grand Ole Opry. Folks, this is huge. If you can make it for this show, do it. For the second portion of the Saturday night show, you pretty much get a repeat of the first portion, without Stonewall Jackson.

If you can't make it this weekend, be sure and tune in to it on 650 AM.

"This marvelous institute of learning could not exist without the strong support and endorsement of Nancy and George Jones. It should have been done 50 years ago! Its about the BUSINESS of the Music Business and focuses on enlightening and empowering people who want to enter the industry. Its fun and glorious. Full of hugs, back pats and attaboys. The two days spent in these seminar sessions are life changing and uplifting. Everything runs exactly on time. No alcohol. No tobacco. This is a straight-ahead, in-your-face explosion of information and excitement. No tests. No pass or fail. Everybody I know, with no exceptions, would enjoy and exult in the GJU experience," says GJU Dean, Tandy Rice.

There are numerous areas that are covered throughout the course, such as booking, life on the road, artist management, publishing, and the list goes on. Each morning, the students will get a brief lecture on the history of Country Music and the role that Nashville has played in it.
